How Linksy works

Linksy is a digital content marketplace that lets independent creators sell digital products through shareable payment links, without setting up a storefront or requiring buyers to create an account. The platform handles payment processing via Stripe, secure file storage, and creator payouts through PayPal, bank transfer, or Wise.

How do creators start selling on Linksy?

Creators begin by registering a free account at linksypay.com. After signup, they configure their payout profile by choosing PayPal, bank transfer, or Wise, then entering the relevant account details. This step must be completed before content can be published.

Once the payout profile is set up, the creator uploads a digital file and assigns a price. The minimum sale price is $10. Each piece of content receives a unique payment link (for example,linksypay.com/c/[slug]) that can be shared anywhere: a social media bio, a newsletter, a Discord server, or a personal website. No storefront, product page, or custom domain is required.

What can I sell on Linksy?

Linksy supports any digital file type: PDF documents, ebooks, video files, audio tracks, photo packs, design templates, Lightroom presets, fonts, code packages, spreadsheets, and online courses. Creators can group multiple files into a bundle and sell them together under a single payment link.

How does the checkout process work for buyers?

When a buyer clicks a Linksy payment link, they land on a product preview page showing the content title, price, and a blurred preview where available. No account creation is required. The buyer completes payment through a Stripe Checkout session using any major credit or debit card.

After a successful payment, the buyer receives a confirmation email with a secure download link. The download window is 30 days from the date of purchase. Files are served via signed URLs that expire after one hour. The buyer returns to the download page each time to generate a fresh link.

How does Linksy protect sellers from refund fraud?

Linksy tracks whether a buyer has accessed the actual download before processing any refund request. When a buyer clicks "Reveal & Download" on the download page, the platform records this action. If the content has been accessed, refund requests are automatically declined. If the content has not been accessed within 14 days of purchase, the buyer is eligible for a full refund.

This mechanism protects sellers from buyers who download content and then dispute the charge, a common problem on platforms with open refund policies.

How does secure file delivery work?

All uploaded files are stored with private access controls in cloud storage. No file is ever accessible via a public URL. When a buyer requests a download, the platform verifies the download token, payment status, and download window, then generates a signed URL valid for one hour. This URL is unique to the session and expires automatically, preventing sharing or hotlinking.

How do creators receive payouts?

Creators set up their payout preference once in the dashboard under Payout Settings. Supported methods are PayPal, bank transfer, and Wise. Linksy collects all buyer payments through Stripe, deducts the platform fee, and issues creator payouts on a regular schedule. Payout details can be updated at any time.

How much does Linksy cost?

Linksy charges a 7% platform fee per sale. Stripe's payment processing fee (approximately 2.9% plus $0.30 per transaction) is deducted separately. There are no monthly subscriptions, setup fees, or listing fees.

For a $20 sale, the breakdown is: ~$0.88 Stripe processing fee, $1.40 Linksy platform fee, and $17.72 paid out to the creator. Creators keep approximately 90% of every sale. The minimum sale price is $10.

Example: $20 sale

Stripe processing fee~$0.88
Linksy platform fee (7%)$1.40
Creator payout~$17.72
